La Cimbali's Success at the Caffe Culture Show

Once again, La Cimbali had another great experience at the Caffe Culture Show last week. It was a vibrant event, filled with buzz and La Cimbali was happy to be a part of it.
The award winning M100 espresso coffee machine with magnum on demand grinders was once again included in the show and was kept busy as competitors for the show made their innovative and exciting cocktail and coffee creations.
The entire bar tenders and baristas who joined the contest showed boundless imagination and passion and this made it difficult for the judges to crown the one winner. The judging team, which included the runner up for the World Coffee in Good Spirits (CIGS) last year, Martin Hudak, decided that Sang Ho Park from Korea was the rightful winner of the show and at second place is Maja Jaworska. Sang Ho’s prize for creating some of the truly amazing cocktails and coffees for the show is a trip to the Cimbali factory in Milan and the MUMAC museum.
Sang Ho will now also go on to represent the UK at the World Coffee in Good Spirits competition, which is part of the Nordic World of Coffee event. The show takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden, between 16 – 18 June, and we will also be there with the Gruppo Cimbali international team.
The La Cimbali team would like to extend a big thank you to those who came to see them and visit their stand at the Caffe Culture.

From One Great Coffee Event to Another

Once again, Cimbali will be a part of the Caffe Culture Show 2015, which is not in its 10th year. The event will take place at Olympia, London which is UK’s leading place of gathering for the coffee and cafĂ© community. Rob Ward, La Cimbali’s Coffee Specialist, gives us a peek of what will be happening to Cimbali’s stand during the event.
Rob says that the focus of the show will include the Perfect Grinding System (PGS), along with other award-winning Barista led technology. The M100 GT coffee machine will also be there, which is considered as Cimbali’s flagship machine, with the ability to control two connected grinders through Bluetooth, so that the same consistency on the main espresso can also be extended to the guest espresso or a single origin, with the same precise adjustment and control.
La Cimbali UK will also be launching their newest S39TE machine during the show. It has PGS capability and an improved Milk System which gives it even more control on the temperature and foam settings, which play a vital part in driving up beverage standards within a pressurised environment.
They are also excited to support and sponsor the Coffee in Good Spirits competition, which was awarded to them by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE).  La Cimbali are thrilled to be part of a competition that showcases the joining of Barista and Bar Tender to create an alcohol inspired signature drink.  Each competitor will have eight minutes to set up their work and then eight minutes to prepare two perfect Irish Coffees, and two of their own signature hot or cold coffee cocktails.
The leading Baristas and Bar Tenders have a great passion for what they do, so there’s a lot of excitement to see what innovative signature drinks they create. The winner’s fantastic prize will be a trip to the Mumac museum and the Cimbali Factory in Milan.”
You can find the La Cimbali UK stand located at Stand C32, which is near the Taste Theatre in the West Hall.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

The La Cimbali team enjoy another great London Coffee Festival

Finally, the London Coffee Festival has come to an end. This event is considered the largest celebration of coffee in the world. The next time we will experience the festival again will be on Spring 2016. Rob Ward, La Cimbali’s Coffee Specialist, ran the Mumac inspired Espresso bar and has expressed happiness on the event, especially for the success of the Sensory Science sessions.
The experience started by testing people’s ability to taste primary flavours: salt, sweet, sour and bitter along with Malic (Apple/Pear) – acidity, and Citric (Lemon/Orange) – acidity – was added to the mix of taste test. It was only in one session where the success rate was 100%. Overall, it was less than 40% of the participants who got all the tastes correct.
There was also a demonstration of the effect that aroma has on taste. This is because flavour is actually a combination of mouthfeel and taste. Aroma is the important factor that gives us the characteristics of flavour in coffee.
When the budding tasters moved onto the Coffee Flight Sensory Experience, La Cimbali demonstrated how using technology and different approaches to coffee extraction, they could take one coffee and produce four distinctly different drinks.
The Ethiopian Limu coffee used changed from a Molasses sweetness with Grapefruit notes in the flat 9 bar espresso, to a more white sugar sweetness soft Grapefruit and Peach pressure profiled espresso. Then they pulled a 300g coffee shot at 8 bar of pressure and chilled it down in an ice bath to create Peach Iced Tea flavour notes. They then finished off with a Syphon Brew with warm Caramel sweetness, which produced a real journey of flavours.
Rob says, “It really was a great four days and on behalf of the La Cimbali team I would like to say thank you to everyone who visited our Espresso bar, and for all of the compliments we received on both our Mumac museum inspired bar design, and of course our great Espresso coffee creations! Plus, a big thank you to the four independent roasters/baristas who were the winners of our recent competition – Dark Woods, Climpson & Sons, Hope & Glory and Celeste Wong #thegirlinthecafe who all did a fantastic job operating our M100 HD coffee machines, both at the main stand and on our Espresso Pit Stop Cart.”
What’s next for La Cimbali?
Caffe Culture is an upcoming event where they will be supporting and sponsoring the Coffee in Good Spirits competition. The M100 coffee machines and Magnum On-Demand grinders will once again make their appearances during the event. This event will showcase the team-up of Bar Tender and Barista so they will be able to create an alcohol-inspired signature drink.
